Q: What is your idea of perfect happiness?

A: Camping with my children, husband, and dog. No phones, swimming close by, the smell of trees.

Q: What is your greatest fear?

A: Likely the same fear as almost all parents of small children.

Q: What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

A: Awkwardness.

Q: What is the trait you most deplore in others?

A: Entitlement combined with laziness.

Q: What is your current state of mind?

A: Looking forward to uncertain futures.

Q: What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

A: Productivity.

Q: On what occasion do you lie?

A: To my children, when treats disappear from cupboards.

Q: What or who is the greatest love of your life?

A: My kids.

Q: When and where were you happiest?

A: Working at an overnight camp when I was 16-20 years old.

Q: Which talent would you most like to have?

A: Being a good dancer.

Q: If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

A: A housecat.

Q: What is your favorite occupation?

A: Teaching.

Q: What do you most value in your friends?

A: Honesty.

Q: Who are your favorite writers?

A: I love police procedurals and detective novels – my current favorite writer of these is Michael Connelly.

Q: Which historical figure do you most identify with?

A: Identifying is a bit of a stretch, but I have long-standing affection for John Rae, who was an Arctic explorer in the 1850s.

Q: What are your favorite names?

A: If I had daughters, the names I liked most were Hazel and Eleanor.

Q: What is your greatest regret?

A: Not travelling more earlier.

Q: How would you like to die?

A: At an old age, in my sleep.
